We all know that planning a wedding can be time consuming and not to mention STRESSFUL.  A lot of couples decide to put their trust into a wedding planner to eliminate any chances of  a Bridzilla morph taking place.

Planning the wedding isn’t always the problem, the actual decsion process can be difficult since they’re sooooo many options out there.

This is where I come in!  Being a bride to be I am going through this same process. I have thought about a wedding planner but……. I’m kinda corky, earthy, and off the wall sometimes. I grew up as an adventure seeker on the beach and could spend my whole life surfing, snorkeling, doing beach clean-ups, and anything else that involves salt, sand, sun and adventure.

 My Wedding Plan

Taking all of the above into consideration one would assume a Beach Wedding would be my ideal, and it is….  no shoes, simple flowing cotton dress, in a tropical setting, exchanging vows as the sun is setting over the sea.

Yep, all sounds great…! But I like to be different and a beach wedding has been done 1,000 times over .  I like to think (know otherwise) I’m a little different.

This is why I have planned a destination wedding(not too original in a Remote Paradise. I want to make sure the experience is one NO ONE will forget and most have yet to experience.

The Location is Most Definitely Original!!!

About a year ago I visited a small Indian community in Rio Charges, Panama. The Indian tribe is known as the Embera Tribe. I fell in love at first site and although not the beach, this place is off the beaten path enough for me to make my wedding original.

The Indians are VERY colorful beautiful people and are excited to host my wedding. They will be the entertainment doing their traditional wedding dance and will provide the food for everyone. The menu will be typical food from their tribe , probably a fish dish.  We will be exchanging our vows by this waterfall. The energy there is nothing I could describe into words.

I won’t even have to get flowers, I actually have the women of the tribe helping me out. They will floral displays with the native plants and flowers. I do have 1 concern and that is that everyone must arrive to the wedding in small boats made out of large trees and the ride is about 30 minutes. BUT….I think the experience will be worth the trip.

The only thing I am planning really are the Wedding Favors. Considering that it may be a little hot, I think I am going to need something to keep everyone’s drinks cold. I decided to get Custom Koozies made so the guests have something to take back with them.

Themed BBQ’s are a fun idea. I am not just talking about 4th of July BBQ’s,  Memorial Day BBQ’s or Pool Party BBQ’s (although this is my favorite BBQ) but actually themes!

Here are a few good ideas for BBQ Themes:

1. 50′s  Style BBQ. 1950′s dress code required, play 50′s music and if the BBQ is big enough have people serve food with roller skates on.

2. NFL HYPE BBQ. Everyone must represent their favorite football team and NFL Bloopers playing on the Big Screen. Good idea for a preseason BBQ Kick-Off

3. Hawaiian BBQ: Get some steel drum music, hula skirts, Hawaiian shirts, and a roasted pig.

They are a number of fun ideas you can come up with. Many stores whether online or locally will have a lot of decorations for the theme you choose.

Breaking The Ice

I am not referring to actual ice, even though it’s VERY important. I am talking about the Meet and Greet BBQ’s such as for a company gathering or a pre-wedding BBQ to get the families together for the first time. Creative ways of getting people to interact at the BBQ is very important to break the ice between strangers.

Games are a great ice breaker. They require light conversation and provide a lot of laughs. For many of us meeting new people may be bit awkward  and nerve racking. We sometimes stress about not having enough to talk about or the possibility of offending someone. Since everyone getting along is a MUST at the BBQ try some of these games.

• Water Balloon Dodge Ball- this is an oldie but a goodie and it’s GREAT for families. This game is pretty much self explanatory so just gonna move on to the next one.
• Super Soaker Trivia- You will need a deck of trivia cards (any will work) and a BIGGEST Super Soaker you can find. Everyone gathers in a circle. Questions are asked to the person standing directly in front of you. If the get the answer WRONG  they get SOAKED….of course! If you want to make the trivia question a little more risque you can find a lot of them online, you’ll just have to make your own cards.
• Guessing Games- Another oldie, put a bunch of jelly beans in a jar and have everyone guess how many. The person that comes closest wins a prize.

Besides these 3 options take out all the board games to keep everyone entertained.
